Scrapbooking Embellishments

Embellishments come in all shapes and sizes. I love to look at them at stores, but especially at all the scrapbooking websites. Besides many single embellishments, there are many in the kits which have embellishments. Embellishments compliment all of your scrapbooking, cards, and digital scrapbooking.

For embellishments, I love the ribbons, silk flowers, brads, paper accents for pictures and punches of stars, flowers, hearts, snowflakes and much more. I also include letters and sayings as embellishments.

I feel that ribbons are easy to use and have the widest selections. Buy ribbons at a yardage store. Make sure your ribbon is acid free. You may buy numerous ribbons in any scrapbooking store or website. I use the winter, summer ones, colors for my son and dog ones with the paw prints, bones and more. Any ribbon may absorb liquid adhesives and may become discolored or warped. You may use the ribbon with glue dots as adhesives and may also fasten the ribbon on with brads of numerous colors and varieties. Ribbons may be used as borders, making flowers and dividing up a page. Have a great time finding these embellishments. Try Jo-anns.com

By punching out a variety of shapes, you can create your own unique designs, objects and patterns for your scrapbooking fun. I love making shapes and especially for the winter scenes of Thanksgiving, Christmas. When you do use the brads to attach some shapes or other embellishments, I would mark the spot with a pencil and use a pair of straight scissors to make a small hole. This saves you a struggle with the paper, scrapbook sheet and also with cardstock. Try the Scrapbook Supercenter!

I have used numerous stickers and especially those with sayings.  They have helped me give sayings to my son's friends, when my son does not journal.  Stickers are also great for the younger children to attach with their school, sports, camp activities and Christmas scrapbooking pages.  My daughter loves the punches of varying colors and shapes, flowers and ribbons and the paler shades of paper.  She also has many red and gray colors for her school colors.  There are stickers or appliques for almost any event you can think of.

There are square, round and oval shapes to create your pictures into a different shape. You can also cut pictures on your 12" cutting board and then put background paper behind the full picture, partial picture and definitely your own creative back ground for your pictures for your scrapbooking.

Your letters can come in any color and size. You can label a page, pictures or anytime you wish to use the letters. My most favorite letters are those that have self adhesives on the back as it is hard to glue letters onto the scrap booking pages.

No matter which embellishments you use, they will make their way onto your borders, with pictures, and scrapbook pages. Just take some paper scraps and experiment. Embellishments are great additions to your cards and digital scrapbooking. Adding embellishments is one of my most favorite parts of scrapbooking as embellishments create such a unique creative page of your own, for a beautiful finished scrapbooking look. You and your children will be amazed at what you can create with your delightfully fun scrapbooking embellishments.
